Developing immunotherapy for autoimmune diseases

The Inserm Foundation is home to the Institut hospitalo-universitaire Immun4Cure in Montpellier, which has been accredited by the French government as part of France 2030.
IHU4Cure missions
The Institut Hospitalo-Universitaire (IHU) Immun4Cure is dedicated to systemic autoimmune diseases, which represent a major public health challenge. These diseases result from dysfunctions of the immune system. Immun4Cure aims to achieve a better understanding of these pathologies, earlier detection and the development of innovative treatments such as precision immunotherapies and RNA technologies. Patients will benefit from cutting-edge medical analyses and personalized clinical trials.
In May 2023, the Immun4Cure project, shared by Montpellier University Hospital, Inserm and the University of Montpellier, was awarded the Institut Hospitalo-Universitaire (IHU) label as part of the France 2030 plan.
In concrete terms, Immun4Cure’s scientific project aims to :
- A better understanding of three key diseases in particular, linked to immune system runaway – rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma and lupus.
- Improve early detection of these diseases and optimize care paths for patients.
- Develop personalized biotherapies to treat and cure these diseases.

Key public health figures
5 à 8%
of the world's population are affected by autoimmune diseases. They represent the 2ᵉ cause of chronic pain.
