Independence and integrity in the service of research

The Inserm Foundation aims to contribute to the growth of Inserm and to health and life sciences research in France and worldwide.
To this end, it has established a number of principles that guide its operations and its relations with its patron and donor partners. In particular, it is committed to remaining independent of its benefactors in its strategic choices.
Shared administration
The Board of Directors, chaired by the President of the Foundation and Chairman and CEO of Inserm Didier Samuel, is made up of 5 representatives of Inserm, in addition to its CEO, 2 staff representatives, and 4 qualified personalities. Appointed for a 5-year term, the qualified personalities bring specific expertise and an independent viewpoint to the Foundation, in order to guarantee the transparency, ethics and effectiveness of its actions. The following are members of the Board of Directors:
Agnès Audier
is a director of SOS seniors, a company in the social economy sector, President of the Impact Tank think-tank, dedicated to promoting and scaling positive-impact social innovations, and Senior Advisor to the Boston consulting group.
Christine Clerici
was a university professor and hospital practitioner. She is a member of the Supervisory Board of Inserm Transfert and led the successful merger of the universities of Paris Diderot, Paris Descartes and the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris to create the Université de Paris Cité, which she chaired.
Jean-Michel Dalle
is a professor at Sorbonne University, specializing in the economics and management of innovation, and director of the Agoranov public research incubator. He has been instrumental in the emergence of over 450 startups, including five unicorns, including Doctolib.
Louis Schweitzer
is a French business leader and philanthropist. He began his career in the civil service before joining Renault in 1986, where he held a number of key positions, becoming Chairman and CEO of the group in 1992. After leaving Renault in 2005, he devoted himself to philanthropy, in particular through the Fondation de France and various social initiatives, where he supported projects linked to culture, education and professional integration.
Tighter governance
The Inserm Foundation relies on a close-knit, committed team. The members of the Foundation are all expert and experienced professionals, to optimize fundraising and project follow-up.

An advisory ethics committee
The Inserm Foundation is governed by a code of ethics.
Within this framework, and in conjunction with Inserm’s Ethics Committee, it calls on experts to assist the Inserm Foundation’s Board of Directors in situations that merit special, in-depth investigation. Its opinions cover both the acceptance of backers and sponsorships, and fund-raising strategy and project financing decisions.
Rigorous management

Efficiency
The Inserm Foundation is committed to managing resources generated by sponsorship and donations in an efficient and traceable manner. It has its accounts certified by an auditor each year.

Information
It provides its sponsors and donors with reliable, fair, precise and objective information on its organization, general orientations, commitments, choice of actions, priorities and use of funds raised.

Scientific evaluation
The Inserm Foundation funds projects that have been scientifically evaluated through a rigorous process.

Conflicts of interest
It has set up a procedure to prevent and manage potential conflicts of interest for its directors, managers and staff in the context of its activities, relations with major donors and corporate sponsors, recruitment of employees, selection of service providers and allocation of funds.

Privacy
The Inserm Foundation intends to preserve the confidentiality of information shared within the framework of its activities and those of its sheltered structure (Immune4Cure). In particular, the protection of personal data is a priority.
