The Inserm Foundation, a new-generation structure

To mark its 60th anniversary, Inserm is launching its Foundation, a forward-looking, new-generation Foundation.
Why new generation?
Because its founder, Inserm, is a unique player in the world of research. The only French public research organization devoted exclusively to medical and health research, INSERM (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale) embodies all the dimensions of research, within a national organization of international stature.
Because the Inserm Foundation supports the development of all forms of research, driven by curiosity and without disciplinary blinkers, because no one knows where discoveries and innovations will come from. It has a single objective: to prepare the future of our health.
This future depends as much on our progress in understanding living organisms as it does on research into the environmental, social and cultural determinants of health for each and every one of us.
Drawing on Inserm’s wealth of talent and interdisciplinarity, the Foundation aims to fund projects that explore new avenues and accelerate discoveries.
Because today, the need for medical research has never been so crucial, in the face of new health threats such as the increase in chronic pathologies (diabetes, heart failure, cancers, etc.), zoonoses like Covid 19, or antibiotic resistance – which could become the leading cause of death by 2050 – if we don’t find a solution by then.
Only high-quality, bold and ambitious research can meet these challenges. With the support of innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence and medical imaging, we have powerful new means at our disposal to succeed.
Join us!
The Inserm Foundation is authorized to receive donations and bequests. These financial contributions may come from individuals (cash donations, gifts in kind, donations and bequests, life insurance proceeds, etc.) or from legal entities under private law in the form of sponsorship (in cash, skills or in kind), as well as from legal entities under public law, notably in the form of grants.
With the exception of public subsidies, the Inserm Foundation ensures that financial contributions are eligible for the tax incentives applicable to them. In compliance with current regulations, the Inserm Foundation issues a tax receipt to justify the donor’s or sponsor’s entitlement to the tax authorities.
Testimonial
” The Inserm Foundation wants to put research at the heart of the future of health. For us, this means not only responding to the need for new knowledge about living organisms and diseases, but also developing a social, cultural and environmental approach to health. Our conviction is that curiosity-driven research, open to the contributions of different disciplines, is the best way to safeguard the health of all. And the Inserm Foundation is incredibly fortunate: it can draw on the considerable strike power of Inserm’s 9,000 researchers and technicians. “
Pierre-Louis Autin, Executive Director of the Inserm Foundation
